Whereto Mankind is headingI usually wonder, and even more so at this “calendar changing time”, about the reason why there is so much disappointment among people, so much anguish, fears, so many people who cannot find sense to their lives, and so many people who can't seriously “enjoy” life. I think it is known by intuition that if Mankind does not perform a deep change in the experience of her values, in the attitudes which start at the heart, Mankind's progress itself can carry to her “destruction”. It seems to me that as Christians we have got something which can fill this concern of Man in something which can give him full happiness, and this is “love”, but serious Love written with capital letters, the one God gave us through our capability of giving and receiving it. Let's start with those close to us, our family, our friends, our job mates, our neighbors. Since Christmas is near, where both words Love and Jesus are synonymous, this may be the time to reconsider how we are experiencing this Love. Maybe we should ask if Jesus (the Love) fills our life, and from thereon we will find all other answers and the true meaning of life and where Mankind is heading to.We are approaching another year's end, and as always this time of farewell, greetings, the arrival of our expected leisure time away from work, also is a time to recall what we have done during the year and to somehow start planning what we will do or how we will start living the next year. There are even such expressions as “I hope this year ends soon”, “thank goodness there's just a little bit left”, “let another year begin so we can see if everything changes”, and the truth is that these just are expressions of wishful thinking, for we all know that these changes or improvements will hardly happen just because the calendar changes. I usually wonder, and even more so at this “calendar changing time”, about the reason why there is so much disappointment among people, so much anguish, fears, so many people who cannot find sense to their lives, and so many people who can't seriously “enjoy” life. It's true that there are many cases where people have, let's say, objective reasons: health problems, job trouble, misery, etc., but this kind of attitude, this discouragement can also be seen in people who have everything resolved from a material point of view, and it is then we realize that Man needs to nourish from something which “fully fills” him. I think it is known by intuition that if Mankind does not perform a deep change in the experience of her values, in the attitudes which start at the heart, Mankind's progress itself can carry to her “destruction”. By destruction I do not mean she may disappear or may end up literally shattered, which also may happen, but I mean that if Mankind doesn't find motivations for true happiness in what she does it is then that her collapse starts. When Happiness can't be achieved or is just temporary, or just fills us on the outside but “deep in our heart” we remain empty, we realize we are running toward something which does not fulfil us. It seems to me that disappointment is worst in the presence of so many “changes” which are suggested to us, because deep down nothing changes or to be more precise, nothing changes at those things we basically need to change in order to feel “seriously” better, not just for a while. What can we do, where to we can head.
