The value of FamilyBetween the Christmas Feast and the New Year the Church invites us to celebrate the Holy Family. Following Jesus' birth, a moment to pay tribute and to reflect about the Family which welcomed Him, since we could not celebrate His Becoming Man and His Birth without thinking of Mary, who carried Him in her bosom for nine months, and of Joseph, who lovingly and with discretion protected the mistery of this birth. By putting before our eyes the experience of this Family of Jesus the Church wants us to have a role model for our own families. By looking at Jesus' Holy Family we see that the Lord spent thirty years of his thirty-three years of life to hallow familym and three years on His Work of Salvation. We must realize how much time we spend tith others, with “outsiders”, and how little time we spend with those with whom we share our lives... and enjoy our family, “hallow” her as Jesus Himself did.We are going through the last hours of this year 2006, already beginning a new year. The celebration of the Holy Family also has its own and very special meaning. By putting before our eyes the experience of the Family of Jesus the Church wants us to have a role model for our own families. Truly one of the most serious lacks of our time is related to families, to their troubles, to their “disintegrations”, to their poor appraisement, as nowadays people try to remove the family's own rights, her own needs, and even try to compare family with whatever other reality, as if “i were all the same”. Therefore it seems appropiate to reflect about the place we assign to our own family realities, the place we hold in her and the importance we assign to her. By looking at Jesus' Holy Family we see that the Lord spent thirty years of his thirty-three years of life to hallow familym and three years on His Work of Salvation. Many times we just do the opposite: Thus we could go on with examples. We must realize how much time we spend with others, with “outsiders”, and how little time we spend with those with whom we share our lives... and enjoy our family, “hallow” her as Jesus Himself did. Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph, in this year we are beginning interced for our Families, strengthen them so they can go on being the foundation of both society and Church.
