Everyday peace

It's not the first time that I share some reflection on Peace, placing emphasis on the kind of peace everyone needs to reach, this “inner” peace which doubtlessly will achieve what we so hardly long for in our current world, which is total and definitive Peace. Amid a world which is so cramped, I wonder why many of our “leading” countries are so violent, and maybe we can start finding the answer in realizing that we live in a violent world, and that this world is violent because we human beings often show signs of violence, of failures of peace in our inside. We should reflect on which are the attitudes which will allow us to achieve this peace. Attitutes which arise from our interior and as they radiate to others they will make us realize that we live in peace, and that we also are able to transmit it. These attitudes must arise from a soul which is able to smile, to forgive, to listen and to go along with others, to take the time to admire and “enjoy” the “small things” which show up every day, which are the ones which make our lives experience true peace, and thus we can build it day by day.

It's not the first time that I share some reflection on Peace, placing emphasis on the kind of peace everyone needs to reach, this “inner” peace which doubtlessly will achieve what we so hardly long for in our current world, which is total and definitive Peace.

We go on watching, suffering and spectating at many fighting and belligerent situations in the world, many “failures of peace”, and therefore we almost grew accostumed to them, as if this were the “natural fate” of Man.

The most dangerous thing is that we grew accustomed to live in this lack of personal peace which makes us frighten, which hinders our soul, our nerves and our thoughts in finding some peace.

Amid a world which is so cramped, I wonder why many of our “leading” countries are so violent, and maybe we can start finding the answer in realizing that we live in a violent world, and that this world is violent because we human beings often show signs of violence, of failures of peace in our inside.

Peace is something which comes from “inside” the human being, from his soul, from his deep feelings, and this is what makes him build weapons and use them, but the guilt is not only of those who decide or steer a war, but also of ourselves who many times “get angry” in many situations of our lives.

Therefore peace is being built and achieved on a day-by-day basis. And maybe therefore it is so hard to “live in peace” these days.

How much anguish, how many controversies; every time we watch some mass media, a news broadcast or open a newspaper, we are scared and “lose peace” thinking that what has happened to others might as well happen to us.

It's true that many things which surround us don't help in achieving this peace, but we must not forget that maybe we will never achieve peace if each one of us does not try to build it, trying to create an atmosphere around us which allows us to “live in peace”.
