Animal's dayIn Argentina April 29 is devoted to the commemoration of “Animal's Day” ("Día del Animal") as a tribute to Dr. Ignacio Lucas Albarracín, passed away on April 29, 1926, who promoted the Animal Protection Law which was passed in 1891. In view of many of our attitudes all this makes me think with no fear of being wrong that it wouldn't be that bad if we resembled animals, or at least many of them. I think no “animal” will ever cold-bloodedly shoot a fellow animal just because it “thinks in a different way” or has different political, ideologic, religious, or sporting colors. Not many “animals” hinder others on their way not letting them walk by, and in view of a “demand” -as rightful as it may be- are disrespectful to others who also have their own rights. Oh, I almost forgot... If someone tells you “you're an animal”, I'm not sure this is an offense, in any case it would be nice to know this animal's opinion. In Argentina April 29 is devoted to the commemoration of “Animal's Day” ("Día del Animal") as a tribute to Dr. Ignacio Lucas Albarracín, passed away on April 29, 1926, who promoted the Animal Protection Law which was passed in 1891. This day many people talk of animal protection, and there are those who think this day to be appopiate to “greet” others wishing them a “happy day” wishing to offend them. In view of certain actions of human beings it is also frequent to overhear expressions such as “he or she acted like an animal”, “they seem animals”, “a herd of animals”, etc. In view of many of our attitudes all this makes me think with no fear of being wrong that it wouldn't be that bad if we resembled animals, or at least many of them. I imagine, and it can be checked out, that many animals are “loyal” to others of the same breed, many of them are “man's best friends”, and many of them don't live confronting others of their same breed. I can't manage to think to an “animal” with some authority shooting a weapon against a schoolteacher, an employee, a family, or whoever just demands what belongs to him. I wonder which are animal's debaucheries, which are their vices, in what way they damage their own health by eating precisely what harms them. I could go on listing many more situations in which many animals would act differently than human beings, and realizing that they would act better, if I might say so, that by their attitudes they show that they experience certain “human values” much better than we do, is some worrisome matter. Therefore, taking into account “Animal's Day”, I wanted to express this reflection as a tribute to the many animals who spend their time with us and who surely could teach us many things. Oh, I almost forgot... If someone tells you “you're an animal”, I'm not sure this is an offense, in any case it would be nice to know this animal's opinion. Have a happy day!
