A Prayer to God Daddy
by a Streetkid
Hi God: they told me you are a Daddy, the best one!
I didn't believe much of it since people lie to me all day long, but today I feel so lonely I need to have some imaginary father who spoils and pampers me, who listens to me, talks to me, who rebukes me! You are this imaginary father and since I feel, God, that You are for real, today I'll call You Daddy. DADDY GOD!
I've got so many things to demand from you! It's a non-ending list:
- I lack food but I've got a lot of glue to sniff so I can forget my pains...
- I lack clothing and at night I sleep all covered up with cardboard since the cold cracks my skin... and my soul
- I need the smell of a loved person and I've got plenty of reasons for no one to look at me with affection
- and worst of all: I lack a dad who loves me and who tells me he does so, I lack a dad who sets limits to me; I lack a mom who waits for me and who forces me to smell like a loved person, a person who went through the storm of Make up your room! Wash your sneakers! Get a haircut! You are eating your fingernails once again!
I'm not important to anyone! But I feel, Daddy God, that You care about me, that's why I demand things from You! I feel You are looking at me and You do so lovingly... I feel You don't want me strolling along the streets...
Let me ask You that SOMEONE NOTICES AND GETS ME OFF THE STREET BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!
Daddy God, get me out of this! Get me out of bad company get me out of drugs and prostitution, get me out of theft and dog fights on the street, get me away from those who use me for Politics, get me away from those who push me towards death.
COME QUICKLY, DADDY GOD! I NEED YOU!
Look for me near the railway stations like Plaza Constitución, Retiro, Once, hanging from some train or subway, look for me at traffic lights where I clean windshields, perform some acrobatics, or "ask for a dime". At night I am in some abandoned shop, or in some railway waggon which is out of use, sleeping and waiting for You to send someone of Yours to give me a chance to STOP BEING SOMEONE OF THE STREET but TO BE ONE OF YOURS, OF THOSE WHO HAVE FAMILY, A HOUSE, A HOME! Get me out of this, Daddy God! I'm your child: You know this!!!! I love you... and I wait for You!
Amen
