Charitable Works > Buenos Aires: A City of Contrasts Day in day out, as the country's economic, financial and social center, Buenos Aires, the capital city of Argentina, receives millions of people from the neighboring areas that commute to the city to work and then go back to their homes. People tend to think that poverty in the City of Buenos Aires has been inherited. That children begging in the streets have come from the densely populated Greater Buenos Aires suburbs that, together with the City of Buenos Aires, make up the Metropolitan Area. However, while the above is true, many children use the public transport to travel from the suburbs to the city center; also remarkable is the fact that City dwellers' quality of life has been worsening gradually, so much so that many homeless and street children were born right there – their home is the streets of a city of contrasts. Children, pregnant teens or teenage mothers, women at risk, all of them in need – the social problem of the City of Buenos Aires is complex and distressing. This is why Felices los Niños Foundation has undertaken this task, an enormous task that goes far beyond welfare actions. We are present with our Day Care Centers, Homes and Schools.
