Santo Domingo Savio ChapelIt was opened on August 25, 1994, after recycling what used to be an old storehouse. The chapel was named after a young saint who was under Don Bosco's protection. There are several chapels in the different Ciudad del Niño Don Bosco Homes. There is even one in the open – a country chapel – that was built in the middle of the woods. The Stations of the Cross are also present here. San Cayetano Educational Bakery and Pasta FactoryThe bread that has fed the Foundation's children since 1995 comes from San Cayetano's oven. At the beginning we only made bread. But then other products were added: croissants, cakes, sponge cakes, puddings, rosca de Pascuas (a ring-shaped cake that is baked for Easter) and the inevitable pan dulce (Italian pannettone, a typical Christmas bread with nuts, raisins and glazed fruits). San Isidro Labrador Educational Plant NurseryIn 1994 the tree nursery was born. This is an educational space where Foundation children can perform different tasks in connection with growing of tree species and vegetables, and beekeeping. Some of the tree species are jacaranda, lapacho, palo borracho and carob tree. There is also a fruit tree orchard.
Cura Brochero Stable and Riding SchoolThis therapeutical stable has been operative since March 2001. The facility was built by the Foundation's children themselves. Bringing children in contact with animals and Nature is the aim of this Charitable Work. San José Carpintero Training CenterThe hairdressers'/barber's school began to work in 1997, offering training courses since then.
Luis Sandrini Drama SchoolThe Drama School is the Foundation’s cultural space and main auditorium. Performances and choral meetings take place there. Ms Carla Sandrini, the great Argentine actor's granddaughter after whom the theater was named, was present at the opening on November 12, 1999.
San Alejandro Health Care CenterThe first offices opened in 1998. The center offers primary care to people living in Ciudad del Niño Don Bosco. A team of health professionals specialized in pediatrics, clinical medicine, psychology, psychiatry and social work is in charge of San Alejandro. The center covers other medical areas such as dentistry, neurology, pneumonology and physical therapy. Thanks to the cooperation and networked action with other health care centers of the area, children's physical well-being is closely looked after too. The Favaloro Foundation cooperates by providing professionals in the area of dentistry. Posadas Hospital and the annex of San Juan de Dios Hospital provide their professional service too. San Alejandro has an in-hospital care capacity of 8 beds, and a drugstore.
Central Dining HallIt can serve 1000 simultaneous meals. The dining hall not only feeds the Foundation's boarders and day-children. Packed foods for distribution among the most needy families of the area are also prepared in its kitchen. Nutrition specialists control the meals children receive every day, as well as special diets for kids with different disorders. Villa del Sur Educational Vegetable GardenThe Villa del Sur Educational Vegetable Garden was created by the end of 2002 following the initiative of the social responsibility program of Villa del Sur, a company owned by the Danone group. The garden's production supplies our children's food requirements and gives students in EGB and High School the opportunity to practice while learning.
Manos a la Obra CooperativeThis is the Foundation's former boarders' cooperative. It acts as a labor source for the young people who have completed their studies at the Foundation and for those who want to get their first job. This horticultural micro-enterprise serves as a training center for former boarders and supplies food to the Foundation's homes.
Plaza de la PazFelices los Niños Foundation is open to the most needy people without distinction of creed. This is why in 1998 we put up the Plaza de la Paz (Peace Square) as we wished to represent our sense of fraternity and spiritual pluralism. In the middle of the park, the statue of the Virgin of the Providence, the Muslim Crescent Moon, the Star of David and the Christian Cross symbolize the main universal religions.
